| ADMISSION REQUIRMENTS for 2011 The Automotive Technology (Ford ASSET) program accepts a limited number of students per year. For that reason, a selective admission process will be followed. Those applicants who best meet the qualifications described below will be admitted until all slots are full. Interested students must complete an application to the college and send it to the Office of Enrollment Services at Gloucester County College with a $20.00 non-refundable application fee. To be eligible for the ASSET program the applicant must be: 1. Eighteen (18) years of age or older by the time of the first dealer work assignment. 2. A high school graduate or equivalent. 3. Able to meet the Gloucester County College general admission and academic requirements (see "Application Process" section). 4. Hold a valid driver's license. “BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE , GETTING READY IS THE SECRET OF SUCCESS.” -- Henry Ford APPLICATION PROCESS To apply for the Automotive Technology (Ford ASSET) program, the following steps must be completed by the June 17, 2011 deadline: 1. Submit a completed application for admission to the Office of Enrollment Services at Gloucester County College. Note: an application is included with this packet. 2. Have an official copy of your high school transcript (or GED), and official college transcripts, if applicable, sent to the Office of Enrollment Services. NOTE: an official transcript is one sent directly from your high school or college in a sealed envelope to the Office of Enrollment Services at GCC. 3. Contact the Learning Resource Center at (856) 415-2268 or (856) 415 2248 to schedule a Compass Placement Test. You are required to test above the remedial level, or successfully complete all required remedial course work, or qualify for an exemption. (Exemption qualifications include: having an SAT score of at least Verbal – 500 and Math – 530, completing college-level Math and English courses with grades of “C” or better, or completing required remediation at another New Jersey college). Students who successfully complete the three steps above will be contacted by Mr. Jeff Silvestri, Ford ASSET Coordinator, and will be interviewed for a dealership co-op. Students and dealers will be notified of the selections and assignments. Students must meet all admissions criteria and be selected by a Ford dealer in order to be accepted into the program. Admission is selective, and not all applicants will be accepted into the Ford ASSET program. “OBSTACLES ARE THOSE FRIGHTFUL THINGS YOU SEE WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR EYES OFF YOUR GOAL” -- Henry Ford STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES Students enrolled in the Automotive Technology (Ford ASSET) program must: 1. Maintain sponsorship with a Ford/Lincoln-Mercury dealership. 2. Maintain academic standards and adhere to academic policies. 3. Participate in all learning activities at the scheduled times. (Attendance is mandatory.) 4. Provide sponsoring dealerships with responsible and productive employment. 5. Be responsible for program costs: tuition, fees, books, and tools. 6. Have reliable transportation to and from the schools and dealership. 7. Have access to a personal computer with internet capability. 8.
